David E. Sayer
General Manager

Qualifications:   Bachelor of Science in Forestry (BSc(For))

Joined Tasman Forestry Limited (now Fletcher Challenge Forestry) in 1982. Was successively logging manager Bay of Plenty (1991), Bay of Plenty district manager (1992), and in 1994, North Island forestry manager, with responsibility for 150,000 stocked hectares (including Tarawera Forests Limited). Was then appointed manufacturing area manager (1995), Taupo, responsible for forest management of 65,000 stocked hectares, harvesting of 960,000 cubic metres/annum and sawmill and secondary processing of 140,000 cubic metres of lumber.

Overseas experience includes involvement in forest investment projects in Brazil and Chile.

Elected member of New Zealand Forest Owners Association 1998.


Vivek Singh
Chief Financial Officer

Qualifications:   Chartered Accountant (CA) (NZ),
Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) (India)
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

Commenced work with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. in Bahrain in 1987 for a year before arriving in New Zealand, and prior to that was employed with A F Ferguson & Co. in Bombay.  

Employed as Senior Manager of Energy, Forestry and Natural Resources Group of KPMG, Auckland from 1988 to 1997.  From 1997 to 1999 was Finance Manager of Enerco New Zealand Ltd, a Gas Network and Retail company listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.  Moved on to be the Tax and Financial Projects Manager at AFFCO Holdings Ltd, a meat processing and exporting company listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange.  

Joined Evergreen Forests in July 2001 and has extensive experience in finance, accounting and taxation of New Zealand companies. 


David J. Paul
Resource Forester

Qualifications:   Bachelor of Forestry Science with Honours (BForSci(Hons))

Joined Rayonier New Zealand Limited in 1992 as a forester, responsible for managing silvicultural operations in the Northland region. Worked overseas during 1996 and 1997, managing a purchasing system for a greenfields Virgin franchise in the UK. Was employed from 1998 to April 2000 by the Ministry of Education as a Management Advisory Officer, supporting a Senior Manager with budget management and corporate governance reporting. Left the Ministry to join Evergreen in April 2000.


Scott Downs
Northern Regional Manager, Forestry New Zealand

Qualifications:   Bachelor of Forestry Science with Honours (BForSci(Hons))

Joined Carter Holt Harvey Forests (Tokoroa) in 1993 as a Forestry Coordinator managing all aspects of forestry operations. In 1995 established new forestry area in the King Country. In 1996 worked as wood-flow coordinator in Tokoroa.

Appointed CHH New Zealand forest health and nutrition manager in 1997. Seconded onto Value Recovery Project while also continuing with forest nutrition in 1998. Served as Chairman of the NZ Dothistroma Control Committee, served on the Forest Health Committee of NZ Forest Owners Association and on the NZ Biosecurity Consultative Committee.

Transferred to Whangarei in 2000 to serve as Forest Leader. Left Carter Holt Harvey to join Evergreen in 2002.


Errol J. Caron
Financial Accountant

Qualifications: Chartered Accountant (CA)
  Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)

Commenced career at Sony New Zealand in 1993 in Spare Parts Sales, before transferring to a trainee accountant position. Left Sony in 1995 to join Carter Holt Harvey - Plastic Products as Assistant Accountant.

Moved to Benjamin Moore Paints in 1996 working as accountant at Auckland Head Office. Gained experience in accounting, manufacturing and retail support.

Joined Evergreen in January 2001.


Bill Z.B. Lu
China Sales and Marketing Manager

Qualifications: Senior International Business Engineer (China)
  Master's degree from Nankai University, China
  Bachelor's degree from Nankai University, China

Joined China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC) in 1988 as an interpreter, secretary to the president of CITIC, and later to the chairman of CITIC board.

At CITIC, was then appointed in 1994 as office manager, Citifor Inc., a CITIC Seattle subsidiary, responsible for head office administration, market analysis and customer relations of the US$130 million forest company and its subsidiaries in Alaska, Chile, Russia. Was a director of the Board and Assistant Managing Director of CITIC NZ Limited and its affiliates in 1996, looking after CITIC's 190,000 hectares of forest investment in Central North Island Forests Partnership (CNIFP). Was a director of CNIFP, and a member of NZ Forest Industry Council.

Left CITIC in 2001 to join FNZ, Evergreen in 2002 to develop the Chinese logs and lumber markets.

A member of the New Zealand China Trade Association in 2002.
